Winemaker notes

Established in 2006 by Jean Joly, a Belgian who first came to Beaujolais in 1964 with his wife on honeymoon. He was immediately enchanted by the region, its wines and landscape. Returning to the region in 2006, Joly purchased the estate that is now known as Château de Durette. Over the next several years, Joly and a number of friends from Belgium began acquiring small parcels of vineyards in various "crus" across northern Beaujolais with the desire to make wines that reflected not only the cru from where the grapes came, but communicate a deeper sense of place with single vineyard bottling from the various crus. Regrettably, Mr Joly unexpectedly passed away in 2014, never fully being able to realize his dream for Château de Durette. His legacy continues to live on by the remaining partners in the business. Today the domaine has 30 hectares of vineyards across Chénas, Régnié, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie and Côte de Brouilly.

Viticultural Notes

The parcel of 3.5 hectares is located on the southern border of the Les Bruyères lieu-dit bear Chez Les Bois. The soils are granitic sand with ancient alluvial deposits. Vines are trained in the traditional gobelet system of Beaujolais and harvested by hand.
