Pecorino
Pecorino
Region
IGP Colline Pescaresi
Winemaker notes
Pecorino from the Colline Pescaresi in Abruzzo is of the finest regional examples of the variety . The heavy clay soils and altitude provide a cooler microclimate that Pecorino prefers. The grape's naturally high acidity produces a finished wine with medium body, subtle herbal undertones and a crisp finish. A mild winter and early, warm spring resulted in an early bud break across much of the region. A late spring frost affected some vineyards reducing yields. Conditions through summer were more consistent, and the vintage overall was good both white and red varieties.
Viticultural Notes
Certified organic. Vineyards on a southeast facing hillside at approximately 300-350m above sea level. The vineyards are planted 4400 vines per hectare which are trained via the espalier system. Grapes were harvested in end of August/first of September.
