Friulano

Region

DOC Friuli Colli Orientali

Winemaker notes

Vineyards are located on the hillside commune of Colloredo di Soffumbergo at an average altitude of 200m above sea level. The greater diurnal shift in temperatures during the growing season allowing the varieties to achieve phenolic ripeness while maintaining higher acidities and aromatics. Although taking its name from the region, friulano is not native to Italy; rather it is genetically the same as sauvignon vert. Despite its origins, friulano thrives in the hillsides of the Colli Orientali, producing a wine with concentration, rich mouthfeel and balancing acidity.

Viticultural Notes

The vineyards are located near the communes of Faedis and Togliano in the Colli Orientali. Vines are guyot trained, planted at 4,500 vines per hectare. Grapes are hand-harvested.

The destemmed grapes are put in stainless steel tanks for 24 hours at a low temperature (cryomaceration) before being gently crushed.
